The Stetson University Hatters Baseball High School Elite Prospect Camp is scheduled to run from August 2 until August 4. This three-day high-level training program is inviting all 14 to 18 years old male baseball players who desire to play at the college level. It is going to take place at the Melching Baseball Complex, Batting Pavilion, and The Chipper Jones Complex, all top-notch baseball facilities. Furthermore, this baseball prospect camp will be under the direction of the Stetson University Hatters baseball coaching staff. The program is set to start at 9:00 AM on Day 1 and end at 4:00 PM on Day 3. The program focuses on enhancing the participant’s hitting, pitching, catching and fielding skills.
Stetson University, formerly DeLand Academy, is a private, nonprofit university. Its founder is New York philanthropist Henry Addison DeLand. The school has a 175-acre campus in DeLand, Florida. The new head coach of the Stetson University Hatters baseball team is Steve Trimper, a native of Newton, New Jersey. He is a bachelor’s degree in physical education graduate from Eastern Connecticut State University. Coach Steve Trimper is also a master’s degree in administration graduate from the University of Vermont. Ultimately, Coach Trimper is the 2013 America East Coach of the Year and the 2002 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Coach of the Year awardee. He is currently holding a 309-292-2 win-loss coaching overall record. Then, the Hatters assistant baseball coaches are Dave Therneau and Joe Mercadante. Coach Dave Therneau, a bachelor’s degree in communications graduate from Bellevue University is now in his third season with the coaching staff. He is at the same time the team’s pitching coach. Coach Dave Therneau is the 27th round pick of the Florida Marlins in the 1995 Major League Baseball (MLB) Draft. Meanwhile, Coach Joe Mercadante is in his first season with the coaching staff. He is also the team’s hitting coach. Coach Mercadante is a Cum Laude graduate from the University of Florida with a degree in Exercise and Sports Sciences. It is also where he earned his master’s degree. Finally, Brandon Brewer is the Hatters volunteer assistant coach.
