The Christopher Newport University Captains Baseball High School Elite Camp is open to all male high school baseball players 13 to 18 years of age. It is a two-day high-level and fast-paced baseball training program that will run from the 4th of August until the 5th of August. It is going to take place at the Christopher Newport University’s Captains’ Park, a leading-edge baseball facility. Moreover, this baseball training program is only offering 75 available spots. Thus, registration is on a first come first served basis. The camp registration fee is $250 per player. Every participant needs to bring their own baseball bat, cleats, gloves, sneakers, pants, helmet, and gear. The head coach of the Christopher Newport University Captains baseball team is John Harvell. Coach John Harvell is an alumnus of the Christopher Newport University. He is now in his 18th year at the reins of the Captains baseball program. Ultimately, Coach John Harvell is a three-time American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) South Region Coach of the Year awardee. He is also a three-time Conference Coach of the Year awardee. Under his leadership, the Captains has already four conference titles, six NCAA Tournament appearances, and three Division III College World Series appearances. Then, the Captains’ assistant baseball coaches are Andy Wissinger and Rusty Ingram. Coach Andy Wissinger is a bachelor’s degree in History graduate from Virginia Wesleyan College. He is now entering his 12th year with the Captains’ coaching staff. Coach Andy Wissinger is also the former Virginia Wesleyan College associate head coach and the former coach of the Coastal Plains League’s Peninsula Pilots. Finally, Coach Rusty Ingram is the new addition to the Christopher Newport University Captains baseball coaching staff. He is the former York High head coach. He has a Group AA state championship and multiple district titles under his coaching resume. Coach Rusty Ingram is holding a stellar 469-201 win-loss record as a high school head baseball coach.
