Calvin College Knights Baseball Summer All-Skills Camp

Come and join the Calvin College Knights Baseball Summer All-Skills Camp. It is a  five-day event that will run from July 9 until July 13. This baseball training program emphasizes development in catching, batting, pitching, fielding, and base running. It also focuses on improving the participant’s eye and hand coordination. Moreover, this summer baseball camp is open to all and any boys 6 to 11 years old. It is going to be a fun training environment. The registration fee which includes a free camp t-shirt is $160 per camper. The program’s daily schedule will run from 9 o’clock in the morning until 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Furthermore, it is important to note that participants need to bring their own lunch, baseball bat, gloves, cap, helmet, and cleats. Running the event is the Calvin College Knights baseball coaching staff and its current players.
 
Calvin College is a private, coeducational, liberal arts college in Grand Rapids, Michigan. It is an affiliation of the Christian Reformed Church and the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The institution is also a member of the Calvin Theological Seminary and the Council of Independent Colleges. Calvin College is also part of the International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education. Moreover, the institution is 1st in the Regional Colleges Midwest in the 2017 edition of the US News and World Reports Best Colleges rankings. Likewise, it is also 1st in the Best Undergraduate Teaching rankings. Currently, the student population is around 4,000 with a 46 percent male and 54 percent female students gender distribution. The student to faculty ratio is 13 is to 1. In athletics, Calvin College has 21 intercollegiate men’s and women’s sports teams. These teams are campaigning in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III. Their nickname is Knights. Correspondingly, maroon and gold are their identity colors. The Knights have already 11 NCAA Division III national championships.
 

Calvin College Knights Baseball Summer All-Skills Camp Organizers

Head Coach John Rypel is leading the Calvin College Knights baseball team. He is now entering his fifth season at the helm of the Knights baseball program. Coach John Rypel is an alumnus of the Carson Newman College. It is also where he earned his master’s degree in sports science. Under his guidance, the Knight baseball team has already three Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Tournament appearances. Coach John Rypel is the former Gordon College head baseball coach. Then, the Knights assistant baseball coaches are Matt Schepel, Ben Wohl, and Peter Cupery. Coach Matt Schepel, a native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, is now in his third season with the coaching staff. He is a proud Calvin College alumnus with a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. Coach Matt Schepel is also a former college baseball player standout. In fact, he is a  two-time first team All-MIAA selection. Meanwhile, Coach Ben Wohl who hails from Canton, Michigan is now in his second year with the Knights coaching staff. He is also a Calvin College alumnus and a former All-MIAA second team selection. Coach Peter Cupery is in his first season in the assistant coaching position with the Knights. The Holland native is a former first-team All-MIAA selection. Finally, the Knights director of baseball operations is Steve Lyon.
